September the 1st UK based photography & cinematography Media team 'Slammedia' Held their second meet event, as I missed out on an amazing first meet in Peterborough I wasn't going to miss the next. When the location, date & time was released for this event it went straight in the planner ready to be attended and given the Stanced.Imaging treatment!
On arrival the standard of cars their was made instantly clear, this was not some corsa filled max power cruise, no, this was almost like a shrunken down show displaying the UK's finest show cars, these weren't just car people, the people who'd brought their cars along were Enthusiasts, hardened enthusiasts, the type that would rather spend hours on end in their own garages sorting there cars rather than sending it away to have someone else do it, this is understandable, when you put as much time & effort into a car as these people do you want to know exactly how its being treated when out of your hands, so they either go to specialists or get kept in the garage with a load of same like minded mates who know what they're doing.
With such a small space filled with so many fine motors to capture I had to set about getting the majority of my static shots out of the way, as the lights fading earlier and these meets get crowded I didnt want to hang about, getting about to get the best shots I could before the fun of the competitions cracked on. There was a very wide variety of cars there. From the rawness of these 2 Focus RS's shown above, to the crazy stance of this MK3 VW Vento below, owned by one of the well known Establishment 365 boys from Lincolnshire this is one hard sitting static dub.
Form or Function, there was something there to fit all petrol heads requirements on what a good car is & should be, there's no arguing that I love a good ole' static VW, but then there'es the side of when it comes to fulfilling that need for speed will a stanced car do the trick, if you run Air suspension then yes this is a possibilty that can be fulfilled, like Dan Bentleys Polo GTI we last featured.
Sometimes both Form & Function can be mixed well together, for example a well tuned drifter will have the lows, camber & stretch needed to look good, although this is purely for practicality reasons of it can make the car better for its prime use.. Causing a crap load of smoke and entertaining fans with sideways antics.
Massive thanks to Cameron McKenzie at Slammedia for arranging such an awesome night, and big thanks to all the other SM team too! Best meet of the year by far! The quality of static parked cars was awesome, the limbo was just brilliant to watch & the cheeky drifty poos after were great fun to see too! Job well done guys!
